  1. Committee Reports

    2. Flag Education: Commander Dave Espich attended Legion Mid-Winter Conference and picked-up all the material and plans to forward to all 4th grade elementary schools.
  2. Old Business
    1. Commander Dave Espich made contact with N.P.H.S. Superintendent, Mr. Halick, about obtaining possession of the Veterans Plaque. Feedback from Mr. Halick seemed positive but he thinks the school board should have the final say. Commander Dave Espich will following-up with them in writing.
    2. We are planning to have two horseshoe tournaments this year. The first one will be on June 9th and the second will be on September 15th. A committee will be formed at the March Post meeting.
    3. Legion Post 182 License Plates: Ron Ordelheide gave his report and said he is making 20 plates. We’ll sell for $15.00 each ( $10.00 for plate and $5.00 for Post ). Delivery of these plates should be soon.
    4. John Biersdorfer mentioned a response from the Lions Club, he needs the proposed dimensions for the Veterans Memorial at the Lions Club. First reaction is optimistic.
    5. Dick Shank mentioned that we need to form a new / younger committee for the memorial. We need to discuss the appointing of such.
  3. New Business
    1. Commander Dave Espich will be attending the 10th District Legion meeting in Hagerstown, 2/10/07.
    2. Special thanks to Joe Espich, Son’s of American Legion, for typing newsletters and meeting minutes.
    3. We received notice from the V.A. Medical Center that 2/14/07 to 11/11/07 is appreciation for hospitalized vets. Visitor times are 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. V.A. hospital is asking for donations such as socks, sweaters, ect. Please bring any of these items to future meetings.
    4. Discussion regarding future Post home. Don Ordelheide mentioned the old Maria’s pizza in New Palestine is for sale with an asking price of around $200,000. Commander Dave Espich believes Post still lacks the funds to buy and thinks we should still look for a renting option.
  4. Commander Dave Espich has asked for all members of the Son’s of American Legion to attend the March meeting.
